We need your help!
Our Student Council is sponsoring a school wide community service project to coincide with Lincoln Street School’s One School, One Book program. We are asking students to donate one or more of their gently used books from home, which we will then turn around and sell during a used book sale. We will be selling all books for 50 cents. Proceeds will be donated to Child and Family Services, in partnership with the Family Connections Center of the NH Department of Corrections, to directly support summer camp tuition at Camp Spaulding for a child whose parent is incarcerated. Students in all classes have been reading Wish by Barbara O’Connor. The main character is a young girl named Charlie, and one of the challenges Charlie faces is that her father is incarcerated. Through the help of some very special people who enter her life, Charlie learns how to cope with life’s challenges without losing her sense of hope and optimism. Please ask your child about this wonderful book!
We will be collecting books in various locations throughout the school until Friday, February 24th. The book sale will take place in the library on Thursday, March 9th. If you have any questions about this project, please don’t hesitate to contact Julie Lambert at 775-8906 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
